COVID-19 RESPONSE

Our team has been working continuously to adhere to county and state protocols and will carefully work to implement the health standards required by the State of California. As always, your camper’s health and safety will continue to be a top priority

The safety of your camper has always been a top priority at Circle V Ranch Camp.  In light of the pandemic, we are reworking many of our scheduling and programming elements to mitigate the risk of COVID-19.
For Summer 2021, we are monitoring federal and state regulations and will update our policies when we more information from them. As always, your camper’s health and safety will continue to be a top priority.

FOLLOWING  GUIDELINES

The State of California and County Health Dept is in the process of publishing detailed guidelines and protocols for operating a residential summer camp. As always, your camper’s health and safety will continue to be a top priority.

CLEAN &
SANITIZE

Circle V Summer Camp commitment to have clean and well-maintained facilities is a top priority. Our staff will clean and sanitize cabin sinks, showers, & bathrooms each day and our housekeeping staff will focus on cleaning the high traffic common areas several times a day. Additionally, we are adjusting our session dates to allow ample time between sessions for a deep clean of all facilities.

TEACH &
TRAIN

Before camp begins, we will enhance and prioritize our staff training sessions to focus on personal hygiene & cleanliness. Counselors will be well-versed in our elevated health protocols and be given the tools and supplies necessary to maintain a clean cabin environment. Additionally, our counselors will help teach, monitor, & reinforce good personal hygiene practices in the cabin. We will consistently remind campers (and staff) to follow safe and healthy habits while they are at camp
Picture

SCREEN & MONITOR

We will be conducting a health screening of each camper and staff member upon their arrival to camp, including a temperature check and questionnaire. Additionally, all campers and staff will be monitored daily for any new symptoms that may arise.

CLEAR COMMUNICATION

COVID-19 FAQ'S

Circle V Ranch Camp is committed to providing the most up to date information regarding Summer 2021 and our COVID-19 plans, policies and protocols. This page will be updated as new information becomes available. Given the ever changing landscape regarding COVID-19, all of the offerings on this page are subject to change in accordance with County, State, Federal guidelines or CDC guidelines.

It is important to note that currently we are recommending families be prepared to quarantine for 7 – 10 days prior to the start of their camper’s session. * INFORMATION CURRENT AS OF 6/2/2021
Does my family have to quarantine before attending Camp?

We are recommending all campers to quarantine 7-10 days prior to their camp start date.

What will be your screening procedures this summer to proactively promote camper safety?

In order to mitigate the risk of covid-19, all campers upon arrival will be required to pass a covid-19 screening process. A staff member will take the campers temperature to ensure it’s below 100.4 degrees. Ask screening questions to ensure the camper is feeling well and does not have covid-19 symptoms. Camper has not been exposed to anyone with Covid-19 in the past 14 days before the start of camper start date.
Are you creating “cohorts” at camp?

Each cabin will have 4 - 6 campers and 2 Counselors. When campers and staff need to interact with people outside of their cohort, they will be required to wear a mask, stand 6ft apart and meet outside. Campers will remain in the same group throughout the week for activity periods and meals. All meals will take place outside.
Will campers and staff be required to wear masks?

To contain the possible exposure and spread of Covid-19 Circle V is requiring face masks that cover both nose and mouth when campers and staff are on site. Campers should bring 5-6 masks with them to camp. Extra masks will be available for campers and staff if needed.

What is your policy regarding vaccines?

Circle V will follow the recommendations of the County Health Department regarding vaccinations for campers and staff as they evolve. All staff will be required to be vaccinated prior to arrival at camp.
What is the cancellation policy for 2021 programs?

A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration. Circle V reserves the right to retain the deposit if the camper is unable to attend due to covid-19. If the camp is forced to cancel the summer session for any reason prior to the start date, the camp will refund the program fees minus the deposit.
There are no refunds for uncontrollable acts of nature or large scale events outside of the camps control including, but not limited to :
Weather, Fire/air quality, Earthquake, Contagion/outbreak, Civil unrest, State or Federal order.
No refund is made for early withdrawal, late arrival or dismissed due to poor camper behavior.
How will Circle V Ranch Camp respond to a potential COVID 19 case or positive test?
Staff will be trained to identify Covid-19 symptoms and respond accordingly. Any camper or staff who presents covid-19 symptoms will be taken to the Circle V quarantine cabin, remain isolated and be sent home from camp.

Transportation: How will campers arrive on the first day of camp?

Buses will be provided for all sessions or parents can drop off campers at the campsite. We recommend siblings who are not attending camp that session, or extended family members or friends not attend on arrival date. Upon arrival, camper check-in will take place at the car. Parents and campers must remain in the car until screening procedures are completed. We currently anticipate bus service for campers on the way home. (from Camp to Los Angeles/Encino/Santa Barbara.

Will there be anyone allowed on-site at CAMP this summer beyond campers and staff?

At this time we are committing to keeping the Camp quarantine “bubble” intact, visitors will not be permitted. The only people who will be allowed into Camp outside of staff and campers are vendors who provide essential items to Camp. These include UPS, FedEx, USPS, food deliveries, septic, maintenance, propane, and our arborists. All these vendors will be masked and away from children and staff during their time here.
What will be different for staff this year?
A COVID-19 vaccination is required for all new and returning hires ;the company will consider accommodations for disability- and religious-based reasons.

How will you keep us up to date on the health and well-being of our children?
As always, we will call you if your child is ill or having difficulties adjusting to Camp. If at any point there is a positive COVID-19 tested case in any part of camp we will inform all parents via email, inform them about any potential exposure of their camper, and discuss next steps.

Will there be any activity restrictions?

With increased emphasis on health and hygiene at camp including instruction on hand washing, and enhanced cleaning and sanitation throughout camp, some activities and events may be altered or not offered based on current health recommendations. We will provide more details as the summer approaches.

My child and/or someone in my immediate family is immunosuppressed. Can we still participate this summer?

Individuals who are immunosuppressed (as defined by their medical professional) or live in a home with an immunosuppressed person should consult with their doctor(s) before deciding whether or not to participate in any summer camp program. Though we are taking extensive actions to keep Camp safe, Circle V Ranch Camp is not able to guarantee that a person on our site will not be exposed to COVID-19; thus, unless vaccines become more widely available and the virus is more under control, participation in any camp program during the pandemic is not recommended for individuals with known vulnerabilities that put them at greater risk. If you have any questions or concerns about this recommendation, please reach out to us to set up a time to talk with a member of our team.

Has Santa Barbara County issued any guidance for summer camps to re-open?

The State of California along with SB County Health Department has issued guidance for children’s overnight summer camps to re-open. We are working with American Camp Association and SB County Health Department to ensure best practices for keeping campers and staff healthy and safe. We will keep families informed about this critical issue as we get more information .
Circle V Ranch Camp is especially well suited for many of the current recommendations. All activities take place outdoors, meals are served outside, all campers will interact with smaller cohorts. We are committed to running a quality program that creates space for campers to connect socially and re-engage in community.
These FAQs are a current look into what Circle V Ranch Camp is planning for 2021 regarding our health and safety processes. A lot can happen in the coming months and, as the situation develops, Circle V Ranch Camp  will be flexible to adapt to it.
